So I’m reading an article on gay shit and the comments section really started to piss me off. Naturally, the unpleasant Christians were out in force. Here is my contribution.
And when I say unpleasant Christians I mean “the unpleasant people who are Christians.” Not “the Christians, who are unpleasant people.”
See, even though I tried to a completely unbiased argument, I still tended towards a little anti-Christian-ness. And for that I’m sorry. You know I have nothing against anyone.
So yeah, not an unpopular opinion, because I’m sure it’s how most people feel, but an opinion likely to elicit unpleasant responses after the click …
“As people of faith, affirming the Christian teaching that before God all people are equal, we will no longer participate in this discrimination,” the church’s statement says.
The vote was unanimous and brought tears to the eyes of some of the 100 or so members who stood to vote in favor of the “statement on marriage ceremonies.”

I volunteered at the Salvation Army center around here a couple years ago, helping families pick out toys. It was really fun and I thought I was doing a good thing until two men came in. They were in poor shape, they wore a lot of layers and their jackets and pants had dirt and dust on them. I think they had been sleeping outside. They were coming in to get food from the kitchen, and one of the staff members took them to another room that wasn’t the kitchen. After a while, they were both escorted out of the building. I learned later that day they were kicked out because the staff speculated they were a gay couple and didn’t want to cater to those kind of people.
I can’t even look at the bellringers without being ashamed of them. They help a lot of people, but I don’t want to contribute to a group that still considers homosexuality to be condemnatory.
Especially around the Holidays…
Know where your money is going.
In the UK, in fact, they openly and vehemently opposed the repeal of the Section 28 of the Local Government Act (1988), which states that any form of local government or authority under government control “shall not intentionally promote homosexuality or publish material with the intention of promoting homosexuality” or “promote the teaching in any maintained school of the acceptability of homosexuality as a pretended family relationship.”
It took up until 2003 for it to be repealed, with the Salvation Army of course hindering this progress using their ubiquity in the United Kingdom much to their advantage. If this had been repealed a lot earlier, I, and many members of the LGBT community in the UK, would probably have been spared a significant amount of the bullying and discrimination that we went through at some point or another.
It was designed to “protect” children from having homosexuality “thrust upon them.” I recall being taught that Christianity was the center of the religious world and was probably the only religion that was based in truth. I didn’t complain about having that “thrust upon me” and I haven’t turned out Christian. And being Christian is a CHOICE. Homosexuality is NOT. I recall many of my tutors openly displaying their political leanings during classes, I resent having THAT thrust upon me. But I’ve never complained nor let it affect my political choices. And, again, that’s a choice.
Being taught about African American colonisation in history didn’t turn me black.
Learning about the female reproductive system in biology didn’t give me ovaries.
I studied seismic activity in geography but I’ve not yet destroyed any small towns.
Just how learning that homosexuality is a normal and healthy part of the human world will NOT turn your child gay.
I learned about opposite-sex relationships and intercourse and am I straight? Oh no, look, I’m gay. Your system is flawed, give it up.
And, something else, you say it’s wrong because the bible says so? Was the bible written by God? No. It was written by people. Many different ones. I don’t personally believe in God, not your god anyway, but if he does exist, you’re gonna get a big surprise. I’ll be going to heaven. Why? Because I live a decent life, I’m a good person and I don’t discriminate against others. All are welcome in my life, as long as they’re decent people, which most people are. That’s all He wants, you know. Good, honest people.
I ranted … again.
Merry Christmas :)
What do I have if, in one hand, is my sexuality and, in the other, is my personality?
Two separate things. So shut the fuck up.
Yes, I’m a man who likes men.
No, I am not promiscuous. No, I do not wear women’s clothes. No, I do not get completely pissed and make a total dick out of myself in one of ‘our’ clubs. No, I don’t worship every ‘gay’ icon on the planet. No, I do not live and breathe musical theatre. I’m not obsessed with looking perfect. I don’t shit rainbows and piss glitter.
I love food, lots and lots of food. My idols are Dorothy Parker, Ayn Rand and Oscar Wilde. I’d rather tea and a book than alcohol and clubbing. My Xbox is one of my best friends and together we make sweet, sweet RPG love. I listen to AC/DC, Within Temptation and Rob Zombie (to name but a few.) I’m quiet, cynical and any rainbows coming from me are probably made of ash and evil.
Stereotype me and I will feast on your intestines whilst your heart still beats, dost thou comprehend?
Forget Ste and Brendan. I’m shipping Kieron and Emmett. :D
It’s an awesome (and hot) thought.
